US National Guard, Readiness Center, Monticello, MS, USA

The Monticello Readiness Center installation consisted of Two (2 qty) K-12 Department of State (DOS) Certified Vehicle Crash Barriers at the main entrance to the facility. These vehicle barriers are designed to stop 15,000 lbs at 55 miles an hour. This type of barrier utilizes the wedge barrier design, whereby a steel plate deploys from the roadbed. The Wedge Barriers are operated by a remote hydraulic Power Unit that utilizes biodegradable vegetable oil for environmentally sensitive sites. The Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) consists of a hydraulic pump and motor, with an internal control board and accumulator for Emergency Fast Operation (EFO). Under EFO conditions, the barrier can be deployed in half a second as a final denial to unauthorized access.
